The lyrics were written by Retsu Asai (1849-1938), a samurai of the former Matsumoto clan, and the music was composed by Sueharu Kitamura (1872-1930), a native of Tokyo.It was established in 1900 (Meiji 33). It was originally written as a local song for the elementary school attached to the Nagano Prefectural Normal School, and has since been sung as the school song of the Nagano Elementary School attached to the Faculty of Education, Shinshu University.
